Here we are drifting through autumn into the Christmas season
All of us are scratching our heads over suitable gifts for friends and family. We have tried our best to find those extra special things, which you will not find in every high street store and hope that those of you who love porcelain will like our superb collection of Le Tallec Paris pieces RDC363 and RDC366

It is always hard to find presents to give men that don't immediately get pushed to the back of the cupboard, nevert to be seen again. Lots of men cook at home and need appropriate gear to do it in! Therefore the apron pictured above RFT367 might be a good answer or the supberb desk set in champagne leather RSD060 that matches the cufflink box or the photograph frame RAS090

Cufflinks are a reliable gift too and the solid silver examples made by the Burghley silversmith RBS026 are so special. If there is a sportsman in the family then fishing and shooting links and boxes are a suggestion RAS402 and RAS403

With cold weather coming, folding walking sticks are handy to keep in the car and the shooting stick flip seat which folds up into a tiny light package is a marvellous idea, this is RLO233

Several new items of furniture are making their appearance alongside the star pieces, which have been outstanding sellers. The attractive sideboard in the country french style RLF388 is a handsome addition as is the circular bedside unit RLF389. For the inevitable problem of storing cds, we have a new important cabinet on stand which will hold a sound centre on one side and cds on the other RSH391, alternatively the right hand side of this cupboard could be used for bottles and glasses, which are also difficult to keep out of sight in most sitting rooms.

Sofas are hard to find in the shops and often the very devil to get delivered, our chesterfield style sofa bed RCF108 fits the bill in so many ways, it is nicely upholstered in a pleasing fabric, it is comfortable and we deliver it to your door, what could be simpler?

Also for unexpected overnight visitors of course, you could not do better than the chaise longue which converts into a superb single bed RCF107 This has been a great success partly because of the luscious gold fabric which goes with almost all interior schemes.

We visited New York in the summer, escaping the day before the great black out, and at the gift show there we found all manner of treasures from fine jewellery, see RGA352 and RGA355 to amusing cushions which make such marvellous presents, RFT368 and RFT372

A superb collection of silver mounted mother of pearl tablewares caught our eye, one example RVH344 as did the totally over the top but practical silver handled umbrella RVS348

Bronzes continue to storm ahead on the decorative front and to our collection of sporting birds MJU934 and FJU053, which are of course terrific presents for men, we add the enchanting little bronze cupid RAU073 and the pair of bears which have charmed their way into my heart with no trouble at all RSU390

Silver plate is becoming ever more affordable and for sheer exuberance and style the piece on the front cover of our autumn catalogue, the huge rose bowl or bottle cooler RSS405 is the best we have seen, a truly magnificent item, worthy of a place on your table this Christmas.

We all hope that you have a very good festive season, we are looking forward to our New Years' collection with great anticipation, but by then, with luck a certain amount of restoring beverages will have done their stuff, our waistlines will have almost certainly increased and our homes will have one or two new acquisitions to please our eyes as we look forward to spring!
Have a very Happy Christmas and I hope that we have eased your shopping burden just a little.
Victoria Leatham
